How Southwest Airlines Cost us our Jobs

Welp, I never thought this day would get here.  No job, a rapidly decreasing amount of furniture, and now, a travel blog. Eight months ago, our plan hatched on a buzzed flight home from Costa Rica.  After our original flight home was delayed by one day for mechanical issues, the airline gave us free drinks on the early morning flight home.  After two mini-bottles of rum, my husband, Joe, looked at me and said, “This is awesome, we should keep doing this.” I was like, “Duh! I know this is awesome, we are getting free drinks on a plane.” Well, that’s not what he meant.  After about an hour and a few more mini bottles of rum, we crafted this crazy plan to quit our jobs and travel around the world.  We have always wanted to live abroad and have made time for travel in our regular lives, but it just doesn’t satisfy the wanderlust.

So now we are selling our furniture on craigslist, moving the rest of our stuff from our DC apartment back to our parents’ home in Wichita, Kansas, and beginning our journey around the world.  Since the adventure travels will not begin until May, I will be writing posts of adventures past until the real fun begins.

Thanks Southwest…
